A glimpse into the life of a modern-day knight – a businessman who brought the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh to what is now Zimbabwe for the very first time.
Writer Judith Kaye Logsdon-Dubois thought that a businessman’s only goal in life was to make as much money as possible and that he could have nothing to say that would interest her – that is, until she met Ezzat Zahrai.
One day she found herself sitting on a terrace of a house in southwest France listening to the former division president of a multinational company speak of spirituality, of visions, of ideals, of mystic experiences, of hardships, prison and persecution, of truth, of destiny, of God. In his youth he had set out alone from Iran for Africa to bring the teachings of the Bahá í Faith to what is now Zimbabwe for the very first time.
As he told his story, Ms Logsdon-Dubois found Mr Zahrai cared very little about the status of wealth, that he had no taste for luxury. She felt he would have unhesitatingly sacrificed his life for the Faith he believed in. Through his adventures in a new land he had become a modern-day knight, a knight with a briefcase.
Judith Kaye Logsdon-Dubois has captured the essence of Ezzat Zahrai his humour and good nature, his business ethics, his strong belief in the oneness of humanity and his passion for telling others about the Bahá'í Faith.
